Conversation with FADER Label’s TikTok Artist, Jiubel

Jiubel is an artist that’s not tied down to any one genre. Getting his musical start on Soundcloud as a hip-hop artist, this now Tiktok viral sensation artist made his break on FADER Label. Jiubel not only uses his big following to promote his multi-talents, but to also spread love and laughter through his “meme” songs on TikTok and Instagram. Soul Talk Magazine had the honor of chatting with the young artist about his latest EP release, ren and his journey making his first step into the music industry.

Destany Long: Describe your startup on Tiktok and how you landed on FADER Label?

Jiubel: I used to post gaming videos on Tik Tok and I'd occasionally try to implement my music in the gaming vids. Some of the gaming fans loved my music! It just so happened that one day someone asked me to make them a song about a situation they had gone through and that's pretty much what created my niche on Tik Tok. As far as how I landed on FADER, it started way back in 2019. I used to only drop music on SoundCloud where I had gained a tiny fanbase. At one point I gained around 20,000 instagram followers and due to this, I caught the attention of Carson from FADER and he gave me my very first opportunity in the music industry, which I am very thankful for.

DL: Your new EP, ren, puts listeners like myself in a world of compelling loops and melodies, what was your process for creating this body of work?

J: My process was to have fun. When I have fun, I clear my mind and that lets me get into a creative flow. Once in a creative flow, ideas just come to me like nothing! Honestly, I never like looking at making music as a job because that would take the fun away and cause a creative block.

DL: What's the best setting to be in while listening to ren

J: The best setting would be in the car on a late night drive – the scenery will match the mood of the EP.  It’s also the most relaxing way to listen to anything, in my opinion.

DL: Do you have any dream collaborations?

J: Of course! One day I want to collaborate with Post Malone. I feel like him and I could make one of the best “bangers” of the century. Post’s sound has inspired me both consciously and subconsciously, so I really feel that a collaboration between him and I is bound to happen one day!DL: What should listeners be on the lookout for next?

J: Listeners should be on the lookout for me exploring different genres. I really want to show my listeners what I'm capable of doing and I want to mix things up because that's what makes life interesting.
